Culte Bizarre

We’re talking drama, fashion, fabulous costumes, outrageous dancing and absurd electronic music, all wrapped up into one under the name “Culte Bizarre”.
The project was born 2 years ago in Riga, having Alexander Vasilenko as the master mind. What started out as a manifesto against boring nights out has rapidly turned into the hottest hurricane devouring the fashion and underground scene in Europe. Clubs in the Baltic States, Germany, Austria, and Italy are being taken by storm one after another, as the group’s popularity has skyrocketed in the past few months. The focus of “Culte Bizarre” is to bring high fashion and cutting edge show concepts to nightclubs; dreams and luscious fantasies melt together creating magical sets and enthralling stories. The rich, thematic scenography brings the sea of eccentric characters in sparkly outfits to life, while the carefully-chosen hypnotic beats entrance and allure the public into a world of novel illusions. Circle performers, burlesque dancers and futuristic fashion muses intertwine in a lively display of grandeur and color.  The exuberance of the performance is centered on an explosion of art and passion. Pure, wild energy flows from the artists on stage, rapidly spreading out to every single person in the venue, infecting them with the craze. Glitter and sequins become the drug everybody’s craving for. Chimeras develop as such with the ingenious use of theatrical decorations, visuals, smoke machines and poised laser beams. Obscure lighting effects enhance the emotions conveyed on stage, while intricate video mapping projections send the mind on a fabulous journey. The eclectic mix of props determines a bizarre combination of old and new school, almost intoxicating. As for the themes showcased, the group is on a perpetual quest to challenge and galvanize the public. All sources of inspiration are niche, being accessible exclusively to connoisseurs. Motifs pertaining to a wide array of clashing subcultures and eras find a common framework in the projects of “Culte Bizarre”. Borrowing ideas from the colorful Mexican holiday of Día de Muertos, the infamous Coney Island freak shows of the 1940s’ or the coaxing geisha memoirs, the crew succeeds in delivering a completely unique show each and every single time.
