Anne Sofie Madsen Copenhagen Fashion Week S/S 2013
Copenhagen Fashion week was truly epic. It’s unbelievable too see a great number of outstanding designers are out there at the moment. Each and every single artist with his or her unique style- it’s fabulous-, and this one right here, blew our minds - to simply put it. With a Galliano twist, and a dash of flamboyance a` la McQueen, Anne Sofie Madsen put on a startling show.
As her name suggests, MAD-sen did something pretty wild and crazy with this collection. There were so many influences present in her latest showcase that it’s truly challenging to pinpoint each and every one of them correctly. Perhaps, there’s no need for it in any case, because what matters is the feeling it exudes. The collection portrayed the numerous facets of the woman, with every single outfit making a valuable statement for itself. The artist’s vision, transfigured into beautiful pieces, made for quite an impressive amount of information to ponder upon. Norse mythology, Viking ice queens, clash with punk warrior princesses, tribal patterns in delicate colors, and see-through lace pieces. In a hypnotic swirl of grey and pastels, lost amongst feathers and sequins, lies an untamed chimera of modern allure. There’s a hint of oriental inspiration, cleverly revealed through intricate origami constructions. As for the prints, they challenge the aesthetics of grotesque, illustrating wonderfully executed gargoyles transposed in surreal polar scenery.
Despite of the wide spectrum of styles of cuts and shapes, the collection is unequivocally cohesive and sent out a powerful message. The visual impact was great, managing to keep the viewers engaged and anxious to see what was going to come up next. The transition from oversized jackets decorated with chains and frays, to a more alternative, reinvented biker kind of items, seemed perfectly natural. A simple, black bathing suit did not appear out of place, but on the contrary, elegantly marked a turning point towards more feminine, yet quirky outfits.
Without further ado, we shall let you feast on the photos and draw your own conclusions regarding Anne's work.
