It would not be inappropriate to say that the best show of Aurora Fashion Week actually did not take place at all. As a matter of fact, it wasconsumed inside the four walls of a beautiful suite of W St Petersburg Hotel. And when I choose to say it was consumed, I am referring to the very soul of this brand - Homo Consommatus. Latin for ‘consuming person’, it is a unit of the contemporary society, whose main goal is to build up its wealth – the consuming society is nurturing the idea of inner comfort and is in need of a worthy package.
Designer Alexey Sorokin presents a Fall Winter collection inspired by occultism, namely the belief in secret doctrines and practices that are recognized neither by science nor religion and that requires some form of initiation. A form of resistance to rationalism that a lot has to say about Alexey’s constant critique to the loss of a genuine place in an increasingly globalized world, and that is concretized in a futuristic collection whose dominant tones are black and yellow, the most visible color contrast often used in warning signs.
The past spring summer collection was even better, with a clear palette and contrasting volumes and shapes. A collection that recalls the theme of double: while conformity triumphs, twins emerge as the ideal creature - natural clones, unique and typical at the same time.
