Zac Posen New York Fashion Week S/S 2013

Opened by the divine Naomi Campbell, in a floral print knee- length dress, Zac Posen's show was once again an explosion of femininity and expression of the dreamy, fantasy world which frequently contextualizes his creations. The black muse was followed by an astounding set of supermodels, Angela Lindvall, Isabeli Fontana, Karolina Kurkova, Lindsey Wixson, Alek Wek, Erin O’Connor and Coco Rocha, the only who could do justice to such a gorgeous collection of statement pieces and demanding, sophisticated ball gowns.
Great part of the collection is composed by body-con, knee-length dresses produced in luxurious materials, such as taffeta and organza, exposing Posen's vision of elegance and lady-like posture in women who yet retain extreme seductiveness. The tighter pieces are accompanied by the presence of abundant gauzy chiffon skirts and corsets, giving the show an accentuated ballerina vibe.
An initial set of cocktail day dresses gradually made space to enchanting silky, satin gowns that would look just about perfect on a red carpet. The ball gowns looked almost sculptural in their structure, some sleek and shiny, others caught in a full Cinderella moment with full floor-length chiffon skirts and voluminous layers of fabric at waist-height. Despite their severe cuts and architectural feeling, the gowns never fail to uphold a very romantic and sweet sense, which the designer intended as the common thread behind the entire collection.
The choice of the color palette was consistent from beginning to end with the interesting use of the deepest tones of precious gems, ranging from lustrous ruby red to glossy sapphire blue, with some more delicate and light floral patterns in the most romantic pieces.
